Rill and Lumo
Opening a to-do in Lumo (no connection)
The to-dos on your list and the calendar blocks in Rill have a Focus button. It opens Lumo with that to-do and a length you pick (25, 50, 90 minutes or your own). Nothing starts until you start it in Lumo.
The link carries the to-do’s id and the length, never its title. On the iPhone, Rill’s app can put the title in the part of the link after the #, which stays on your phone and is never sent to any server. You do not need a connection for this, and no data about you moves.
If Lumo is not installed, the link opens Lumo’s page, where you can find it in the App Store.
If you connect them
Connecting is optional. It needs an active Rill plan, and a Lumo Pro account in Lumo. You start it in Lumo, and you approve it here on Rill, where you see each permission and can switch off the two that are optional:
- Send Rill your focus sessions and read your open to-dos are the connection itself.
- Mark a to-do done in Rill: only when you choose it in Lumo. Optional.
- Send a thought to Rill: only when you tap “Send to Rill”. Optional.
What Rill receives
- For each focus session: a random id, when it started and ended, its planned length, the technique, whether it ran to the end, and how many interruptions you logged.
- Which Rill to-do the session was for, when you started it from one.
- A thought you send with “Send to Rill”, when you allowed that. It becomes a capture you can edit or delete.
- Never session titles, notes or the text of anything else in Lumo.
Rill shows these as facts, for example “3 focus sessions · 1 h 15 min” on a to-do, a list of sessions by day, and a line on Today. It does not rate them or say what they mean. Rill’s memory can use them when you ask, for instance when you last worked on something and for how long. Nothing from Vault or Local-only notes is ever sent to Lumo.
What stays out
- Rill does not read anything else in Lumo, and Lumo cannot read anything else in Rill.
- Neither app shares your data with advertisers, and neither tracks you across other companies’ apps or sites.
- Rill has no ads. The one card on the To-dos page that mentions Lumo can be dismissed, and it does not come back.
Disconnecting and deleting
- Nothing is shared until you tap Connect.
- Disconnect any time, here or in Lumo. Sharing stops at once.
- You can delete the focus history Rill has kept, any time, in Settings.
In Rill: Settings, Connected accounts, Lumo. Choose Disconnect, and Delete focus history if you want what Rill kept removed. Deleting your Rill account removes it too.
Each is paid for separately
Rill and Lumo are separate products from the same maker. A Rill plan does not include Lumo, and Lumo does not include Rill. You can use either without the other.
