Rill

Continuity

When you leave, your memory waits.

When you cancel any Rill subscription, we don’t delete your thinking on the way out. You get 90 days to come back. Your archive is yours forever.

What happens when you cancel

The same rules apply whether you cancel a base subscription (your Rill plan) or an add-on (like Agents). Add-ons follow their base subscription. Cancel Rill and its add-ons pause with it.

Day 0

The moment you cancel

  • · Your subscription pauses. You stop being billed.
  • · Your data stays exactly where it is. Nothing is deleted, nothing moves.
  • · You receive an email confirming the cancellation, with a one-click link to download your full archive.
  • · If you re-subscribe within 90 days, everything is right where you left it — same captures, same connections, same memory graph.

Days 1–89

The pause window

  • · Your captures are read-only inside the cancelled product. You can still view them; new captures pause with the subscription.
  • · If you cancel only an add-on (e.g., Agents), the rest of your subscription continues. Only the add-on's features pause.
  • · The annual archive download is always available, every day of the window.
  • · You'll receive a calm reminder at day 30 and day 60, each with the archive link.

Day 85

Final warning

  • · A clear email: your data tied to this cancelled subscription will be permanently deleted in 5 days unless you re-subscribe or download your archive.

Day 90

Permanent deletion

  • · The data tied to the cancelled subscription is hard-deleted from our systems.
  • · If you cancelled an add-on only, your captures stay untouched. Only the add-on stops.
  • · If you cancelled a base subscription, all captures created from that product are deleted. Captures you made through the other product (if you have one active) remain intact.
  • · Deletion is permanent. We do not keep backup copies beyond standard rolling backups required for operational continuity (no more than 30 additional days), after which deletion is final and unrecoverable.

What the archive is

Every account can download a signed .tar.gzarchive of their full corpus, at any time, on any plan — including during the 90-day pause window.

  • · Markdown files for every capture, organized by date.
  • · JSON for decisions, predictions, and structured records.
  • · A manifest with a SHA-256 hash of every file.
  • · Standard formats. Opens in any text editor on any machine.

If you download an archive before day 90, the data inside is yours permanently — even after we delete our copy.

Edge cases

Failed credit card.
We retry the charge for 7 days before treating it as a cancellation. The 90-day window starts from the retry exhaustion date, not the original failure.
You re-subscribe on day 87.
Everything resumes. The 90-day timer resets only if you cancel again.
You re-subscribe after day 90.
You’re welcome back — but your captures from the previous subscription are gone. Imports start fresh, unless you have a downloaded archive to re-import.
You change plans rather than cancel.
No 90-day timer. All data stays; only feature access changes.

Why we do it this way

Personal AI products fail. Mem folded. Reflect pivots. You shouldn’t have to trust us with your thinking forever — but you also shouldn’t lose it because of a missed credit card or a careless click.

90 days is honest middle ground. Enough time to handle an accidental cancellation, a forgotten payment method, a moment of doubt. Not so long that we’re holding data we’ll never serve again.

The annual archive is the deeper promise: your corpus is yours, in standard formats, forever, with or without us.
